The Public Health Science Master’s Study Program is one of the six master’s study programs managed by the Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University (Unhas). This study program was established in 1999 based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture at that time (current Ministry of National Education) number 115/DIKTI/Kep/1999 dated March 5 1999, concerning the Establishment of a Master of Public Health Study Program in the Postgraduate Program at Hasanuddin University Makassar.

When it first obtained an operational permit in 1999, the Master of Public Health Study Program consisted of concentrations in Health Administration and Policy, Public Health Nutrition and Environmental Health. Then it developed by managing seven concentrations, namely Health Administration and Policy, Public Health Nutrition and Environmental Health, Health Promotion, Occupational Health and Safety (K3), Hospital Management (MRS) and Reproductive and Family Health. Subsequent developments occurred, several concentrations developed into study programs. The first to propose a change to a study program was the MRS Concentration, namely in 2019, followed by the K3 concentration in 2020, then in 2021 the AKK, KL and Nutrition Concentration, so that currently the Public Health Masters Study Program only manages three concentrations, namely Epidemiology, Health Promotion, and Reproductive and Family Health.

This study program is located at the Unhas Tamalanrea Campus Jl. Pioneers of Independence Km.10 Makassar. Since 1999, the Master of Public Health study program has applied for accreditation forms three times, namely in 2012, 2016 and most recently 2022. The first accreditation was submitted in 2012, based on the Decree of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) No. 006/BAN-pt/Ak- – PTKes Number: 0532/LAM-PTKes/Akr/Mag/VIII/2017 Date 26 August 2017 with Accreditation rating A and most recently also from LAM-PTKes with Number: 1061/LAM-PT- Kes/Akr/Mag/XII/2022 December 16 2022 stated that the Public Health Masters Study Program was Accredited as Superior.
